✔️ Side Effects

• Common:
  • Gastrointestinal issues: Peptic ulcers, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, dyspepsia.
• Severe (rare):
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, especially in the elderly.
  • Exacerbation of colitis or Crohn’s disease.
  • Dizziness or vision disturbances.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults:

• Acute Pain:
  • 8–16 mg daily, divided into 2–3 doses.
  • Maximum dose: 16 mg/day.
• Osteoarthritis/Rheumatoid Arthritis:
  • Initial dose: 12 mg daily, divided into 2–3 doses.
  • Maintenance dose: Maximum 16 mg/day.

Children & Adolescents:

• Not recommended for those under 18 due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.

Elderly (above 65):

• No specific dosage adjustment is required but use cautiously due to the higher risk of gastrointestinal side effects.

Renal Impairment:

• Mild to moderate impairment: Maximum 12 mg/day, divided into 2–3 doses.

Hepatic Impairment:

• Moderate impairment: Maximum 12 mg/day, divided into 2–3 doses.
• Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.

✔️ Overdose Effects

• Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and visual disturbances.
• Management: Withdraw medication, and consider gastric lavage.
• No specific antidote; emergency measures should be taken.
• Lornoxicam has a short half-life and is not dialyzable.

✔️ Interactions

• Increased bleeding risk: With Vitamin K antagonists (e.g., warfarin).
• Reduced kidney function: With cyclosporine (rarely leads to acute kidney injury).
• Increased adverse effects: With lithium, methotrexate, and digoxin.
• Reduced efficacy: Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and angiotensin II receptor antagonists in heart failure patients.

✔️ Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to Lornoxicam or its excipients.
• Peptic ulcer or severe gastrointestinal conditions.
• Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
• Thrombocytopenia.
• Third trimester of pregnancy.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy.
• Avoid this in the first and second trimesters due to the lack of safety data.
• Avoid breastfeeding as Lornoxicam is excreted in rat milk, though human data is unavailable.

✔️ Use cautiously in:

• Impaired kidney function.
• History of gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, or heart failure.
• Conditions like ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, or SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus).
• Avoid women undergoing infertility treatment.

✔️ Storage Conditions
