✅ Description:
Floxason is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive organisms, including penicillinase-producing staphylococci. Specific indications include:
- Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: Boils, abscesses, carbuncles, infected skin conditions (ulcer, eczema, acne, furunculosis, cellulitis, infected wounds, infected burns, otitis media, and externa, impetigo).
- Respiratory Tract Infections: Pneumonia, lung abscess, empyema, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, quinsy.
- Other Infections: Osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infection, meningitis, and septicemia caused by Floxason-sensitive organisms.
- Prophylactic Use: Major surgical procedures like cardiothoracic and orthopedic surgery.
Administered as an injection or intravenous infusion, it fights gram-positive bacteria. Use it regularly at prescribed intervals, finishing the full course even if symptoms improve. Inform your doctor of penicillin allergies. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and injection site reactions.

Floxason is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing the formation of their protective cell wall.

✔️ Pharmacology
Flucloxacillin is active against Gram-positive organisms, especially penicillinase-producing strains. It inhibits bacterial cell wall formation, displaying resistance to penicillinase, stability in gastric acid, and activity against gram-positive bacteria. It is bactericidal and effective against penicillinase-producing staphylococci.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Floxason
Administration:
- Should be taken on an empty stomach.
- Reconstitution: Dissolve in water for injection.
- Intravenous infusion: Dilute in suitable IV fluids.
Adult Dose:
- Oral: 250-500mg 3-4 times a day.
- Intravenous: 0.25-1 g 4 times/day; may double in severe cases.
- Up to 8 g/day for osteomyelitis.
- Up to 8 g/day for endocarditis (<85 kg) and 12 g/day (>85 kg).
Child Dose:
- Doses based on age; consult your doctor.
Renal Dose:
- Dosage adjustment may be necessary for renal impairment.

Concurrent use of Floxason may result in increased levels of Floxason in the blood for a prolonged period.
✔️ Contraindications:
Flucloxacillin is contraindicated in penicillin-hypersensitive patients.
