✔️ Dosage & Administration of Flamyd Suspension

Shake suspensions well before use. Follow the physician’s exact instructions.

Tablet & Suspension:

• Trichomoniasis:
  Adults: 200 mg three times daily or 400 mg twice daily for 7 days, or 2 g as a single dose
  Children: Dosage varies by age (e.g., 100 mg tid for 7–10 yrs)
• Amoebiasis:
  Adults: 800 mg tid for 5 days (intestinal); 400–800 mg tid for 5–10 days (extra-intestinal)
  Children: Age-based dosing ranging from 100–400 mg tid or qid
• Giardiasis:
  Adults: 2 g daily for 3 days
  Children: 500 mg–1 g daily for 3 days, based on age
• Bacterial Vaginosis:
  400 mg twice daily for 7 days or 2 g single dose
• Other Anaerobic Infections (e.g., gingivitis, ulcers, dental infections):
  200–800 mg tid for 3–7 days

• Hepatic Impairment: Reduced metabolism may require dose adjustment
• Renal Impairment: No dose adjustment usually necessary, but metabolites may accumulate
• Hemodialysis: Re-administer post-dialysis

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Alcohol: May cause disulfiram-like reactions (e.g., flushing, vomiting, tachycardia)
• Disulfiram: May lead to psychotic reactions
• Warfarin: Enhanced anticoagulant effect; monitor INR
• Lithium: Risk of elevated plasma levels
• Cyclosporine, Busulfan, Phenytoin, 5-FU: May increase toxicity or reduce Flamyd efficacy

✔️ Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Metronidazole or other nitroimidazoles

✔️ Side Effects of Flamyd Suspension

May include metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, or skin rash.

✔️ Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: Category B; use only if needed
• Lactation: Metronidazole is excreted in breast milk; use with caution

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Monitor blood counts and watch for signs of neuropathy if treatment is prolonged
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic encephalopathy
• May cause urine discoloration (darkened urine)

✔️ Storage

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of children’s reach. Do not use past expiry date.
