✔️ Tenoren is used for:

• Hypertension: Alone or with other antihypertensives, especially thiazide diuretics.
• Angina Pectoris: Long-term management of chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart.
• Acute Myocardial Infarction: In hemodynamically stable patients, to reduce cardiovascular mortality.

Take this medicine only as advised by a registered doctor.

✔️ Side Effects

• Bradycardia, low blood pressure
• Fatigue, dizziness

Serious (require immediate attention):

Allergic reactions (fever, sore throat, laryngospasm)

CNS effects: depression, disorientation, memory loss

Gastrointestinal: mesenteric thrombosis, ischemic colitis

Skin reactions: rash, dry eyes

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Hypertension:

Start: 50 mg orally once daily (alone or with a diuretic).

If needed, increase to 100 mg once daily.

Doses >100 mg/day usually do not provide extra benefit.

Angina Pectoris:

Start: 50 mg orally once daily.

Increase to 100 mg/day if response is inadequate. Some patients may need 200 mg/day.

Acute Myocardial Infarction:

IV: 5 mg over 5 min, followed by another 5 mg after 10 min.

Oral: 50 mg 10 min after IV dose, then another 50 mg 12 hours later.

Continue oral therapy 100 mg once daily or 50 mg twice daily for 6–9 days or until hospital discharge.

Special Populations:

Elderly or Renal Impairment: Start at lower doses (25–50 mg/day).

Hemodialysis patients: Give 25–50 mg after each dialysis under supervision.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Catecholamine-depleting drugs (e.g., reserpine) may increase risk of low blood pressure and slow heart rate.

Calcium channel blockers may have additive effects.

Disopyramide, amiodarone, digitalis glycosides may enhance bradycardia or heart block.

NSAIDs (e.g., indomethacin) may reduce Tenoren’s effectiveness.

Patients with history of anaphylaxis may react more severely; epinephrine may be less effective.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category D: Use only if benefits outweigh risks.

Breastfeeding: May cause bradycardia in infants; caution advised.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Monitor heart rate and blood pressure; adjust dose as needed.

May worsen peripheral arterial disease.

Use cautiously in renal impairment.

Elderly patients require lower starting doses.

✔️ Overdose

Symptoms: lethargy, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, bronchospasm, hypoglycemia, congestive heart failure.
Management:

Remove unabsorbed drug (emesis, gastric lavage, activated charcoal).

Supportive care including cardiac/respiratory monitoring.

Can be removed via hemodialysis.

✔️ Do not take Tenoren if you have:

Sinus bradycardia or heart block >1st degree

Cardiogenic shock or overt heart failure

Hypersensitivity to Atenolol or its components

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in original packaging.

Keep out of reach of children.

Do not use past expiry date.
