✔️ Side Effects

• Headache, dizziness, tiredness
• Sore throat, runny nose, cough
• Constipation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and indigestion

Seek medical help immediately if you develop:

• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing)
• Signs of low blood pressure (fainting, severe dizziness)
• Persistent diarrhea with weight loss
• Jaundice (yellow eyes/skin, dark urine, itching)

✔️ Dosage & Administration

• Take as advised by your physician.
• Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.
• Dose and duration depend on age, body weight, and clinical condition.

Drug–Drug
Inform your doctor if you are taking:

ACE inhibitors (enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril) or aliskiren

Potassium supplements / potassium-sparing diuretics (spironolactone, losartan potassium, salt substitutes)

NSAIDs (ibuprofen, diclofenac, aspirin)

Antacids (aluminum or magnesium hydroxide)

Bile acid sequestrants (colesevelam, simvastatin)

Immunosuppressants (cyclosporin, tacrolimus, everolimus, sirolimus)

Antifungals (ketoconazole, itraconazole)

Antibiotics (rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin)

Antivirals (ritonavir, indinavir, nelfinavir)

Lithium, anticoagulants, calcium-channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem)

St. John’s wort, dantrolene (muscle relaxant)

Drug–Food
❌ Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice (may unpredictably increase amlodipine levels and lower blood pressure excessively).

✔️ Warnings:

Pregnancy
❌ Contraindicated after the 3rd month (may cause harm to the fetus). Avoid in early pregnancy unless clearly needed.

Breastfeeding
❌ Not recommended; may harm newborns or premature infants.

Driving/Machines
⚠️ Use with caution. May cause dizziness, headache, or sleepiness.

Alcohol
⚠️ Avoid alcohol – may worsen dizziness or tiredness.

Kidney Impairment
⚠️ Not recommended in severe kidney disease or post–kidney transplant.

Liver Impairment
⚠️ Avoid in severe liver disease (biliary obstruction, jaundice, gallstones).

Heart Disease
❌ Contraindicated in severe cardiac conditions (aortic stenosis, cardiogenic shock, circulatory collapse, or recent heart attack).

Pediatrics (<18 years)
❌ Not recommended – safety not established.

Elderly (>65 years)
⚠️ Use cautiously with regular monitoring of kidney function and blood pressure.
