✅ Description:

Severe hypertriglyceridemia with or without low HDL cholesterol.
Mixed hyperlipidemia when statins are contraindicated or not tolerated.

Pharmacology:

Ciprofibrate lowers LDL and VLDL, reducing triglyceride and cholesterol levels while increasing HDL. It is effective in treating hyperlipidemia and may reduce coronary heart disease events.

Dosage & Administration:

Adults: 100 mg per day (do not exceed).
Renal impairment: Reduce to one tablet every other day for moderate impairment. Avoid use in severe renal impairment.
Hepatic insufficiency: Use cautiously; discontinue if liver enzymes increase more than 3 times the upper limit of normal.
Elderly (>70 years): Same dose as adults but with precautions.
Pediatrics: Not recommended.

Interactions:

Other fibrates & statins: Increased risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
Oral anticoagulants: May require dose adjustment of anticoagulants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic/renal impairment, pregnancy, lactation, and concurrent use with another fibrate.

Side Effects:

Common effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, alopecia, and muscle pain.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation due to lack of safety data.

Precautions:

Monitor muscle pain for myopathy.
Periodic liver function tests are recommended.

Storage:

Store below 30°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
