Dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, flatulence, indigestion, headache, insomnia, vertigo, diarrhea, bezoar formation, and general gastrointestinal discomfort.
✔️ Dosage & Administration
Adults
- Peptic ulcer / Chronic gastritis: 1 g four times daily or 2 g twice daily for 4–8 weeks (extendable to 12 weeks if needed).
- Maintenance (duodenal ulcer prevention): 1 g twice daily.
- Stress ulcer prophylaxis: 1 g six times daily (max 8 g/day).
- To be taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals.
Pediatric Dosage
- 1 month–2 years: 250 mg 4–6 times daily
- 2–12 years: 500 mg 4–6 times daily
- 12–18 years: 1 g 4–6 times daily
(Same dosage applies for stress ulcer prophylaxis.)
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it’s almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose.
✔️ Drug Interactions
- Do not take antacids within 30 minutes of taking Ulfix 1000.
- Sucralfate may reduce the absorption of several drugs, including:
- Tetracyclines
- Ranitidine, Cimetidine
- Ketoconazole, Phenytoin, Digoxin, Theophylline
- A minimum 2-hour gap is recommended between sucralfate and these medications
✔️ Precautions
- Renal impairment: Use with caution; risk of aluminum accumulation.
- Caution is advised in neonates, children, and during pregnancy and lactation.
- Avoid use if there is known hypersensitivity to sucralfate.
✔️ Storage:
- Store at ≤30°C in a dry, dark place.
- Keep away from children.
