✔️ Composition

Each spoonful (5.38 gm) of this effervescent powder contains:

• Psyllium fiber: 3.5 gm
• Standardized Senna extract (equivalent to Sennoside B): 7.5 mg

✔️ Pharmacology

This combination preparation offers both bulk-forming and stimulant laxative effects:

• Psyllium fiber: Contains mucilage, which forms a gel-like substance when mixed with water, helping to soften stools and ease bowel movements.
• Senna extract: Contains hydroxyanthracene glycosides (Sennoside B), which stimulate bowel movements by increasing intestinal muscle contractions.

Together, these components help to:

• Accelerate intestinal passage
• Increase water absorption and filling pressure
• Relieve pain and ease bowel evacuation for patients with hemorrhoids, post-rectal surgery, and colon cancer
• Soothe gastric and intestinal mucosa
• Maintain serum cholesterol and blood glucose levels

✔️ Dosage

• Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 spoonfuls at night with at least 150 ml water or as directed by a physician. Additional water intake is helpful.
• Can be mixed with fruit juice, milk, or a warm drink.
• Should not be taken until ½ to 1 hour after taking other medications.
• Continuous use for more than 2 weeks requires medical supervision.

✔️ Interaction

• Chronic use may cause potassium deficiency, which can increase the effectiveness of cardiac glycosides and influence the action of antiarrhythmic drugs.
• Potassium deficiency can be exacerbated by thiazide diuretics and corticoadrenal steroids.
• Insulin-dependent diabetic patients may need to adjust their insulin dose.
• Absorption of concurrently administered drugs can be delayed.

• Children under 12 years old
