• If taking it for heavy periods, take it on the first day as taking it before or after will not have any benefit.

• Inform your doctor if you have a history of kidney or liver disease.

Block-T 500mg Tablet is indicated for the management of bleeding in various conditions, including:

• Heavy menstrual bleeding in women

• Hematuria (blood in urine) not caused by kidney parenchyma
• Bleeding control after dental extractions in patients with coagulopathies

✔️ Pharmacology

Tranexamic acid (trans-4 aminomethyl-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid) is a strong antifibrinolytic agent, effective in inhibiting the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, which is essential for clot breakdown. It acts by preventing the binding of plasminogen to fibrin, thereby inhibiting fibrinolysis. Tranexamic acid is more effective and long-lasting than conventional hemostatic agents due to its slower excretion via the renal route and higher potency. It does not interfere with normal clotting processes and has low acute and chronic toxicity.

Adult Dose

Oral Administration:

• Short-term management of hemorrhage: 1-1.5 g or 15-25 mg/kg, taken twice (bid) or three times daily (tid).
• Management of hereditary angioedema: 1-1.5 g, taken twice (bid) or three times daily (tid).

Child Dose

Oral Administration:

• Short-term management of hemorrhage: 25 mg/kg, taken twice (bid) or three times daily (tid).
• Management of hereditary angioedema: 25 mg/kg, taken twice (bid) or three times daily (tid).

Renal Dose Adjustments

Renal Impairment:

• Serum creatinine 120-250 micromol/l: 15 mg/kg twice daily.
• Serum creatinine 250-500 micromol/l: 15 mg/kg once daily.
• Serum creatinine >500 micromol/l: 7.5 mg/kg once daily or 15 mg/kg once every 48 hours.

Block-T 500mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with:

• Blood clotting disorders or consumption coagulopathy
• Kidney disease
• Seizure disorders
• Irregular menstrual cycles
• Acquired disturbances of color vision
• Venous or arterial thrombosis
• Active thromboembolic diseases such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and cerebral thrombosis
• Subarachnoid hemorrhage
• Blood in urine during menstrual periods

• Avoid during pregnancy due to unknown transplacental effects.
• Tranexamic acid passes into breast milk in low concentrations, making antifibrinolytic effects in infants unlikely.
