Indications of Intafenac K 50mg Tablet

Acute conditions that require short-term therapy include:

Post-traumatic discomfort, inflammation, and edema, for example, as a result of sprains

Pain, inflammation, and edema following surgery, such as dental or orthopedic surgery

Painful and/or inflammatory gynecological disorders, such as primary dysmenorrhoea or adnexitis

Migraine headaches

Painful vertebral column syndromes

Rheumatism that does not affect the joints

Adjuvant in the treatment of severe painful inflammatory infections of the ear, nose, or throat, such as pharyngotonsillitis and otitis.

Pharmacology of Intafenac K 50mg Tablet

Diclofenac Potassium's mechanism of action, like that of other NSAIDs, is unknown, although it includes suppression of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2).

In vitro, diclofenac is a strong inhibitor of prostaglandin production. In vivo effects have been seen with diclofenac doses achieved during treatment. In animal models, prostaglandins sensitize afferent neurons and enhance the function of bradykinin in generating pain. Prostaglandins are inflammatory mediators. Because diclofenac is a prostaglandin production inhibitor, its method of action might be related to a reduction in prostaglandins in peripheral tissues.

Intafenac K 50mg Tablet Dosage & Administration

Adults: Following an initial loading dose of 50 mg, 25-50 mg is to be taken every eight hours if necessary.

Migraine: An initial loading dose of 50 mg, then if necessary a further 25-50 mg after 2 hours. The maximum daily dose is 150 mg. The tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid, preferably before meals.

Children: Children over 14 years of age: up to 75 mg daily in divided doses.

Interaction

The following medications may interact with diclofenac:

Diclofenac may raise the plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin.

Anticoagulant: There have been rare instances of an increased risk of bleeding when Diclofenac is taken with anticoagulant treatment.

Cyclosporin: Nephrotoxicity has been documented in people using Cyclosporin and Diclofenac at the same time.

Methotrexate: Serious toxicity has been observed when methotrexate and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are administered within 24 hours of each other.

Diuretics: Diclofenac, like other NSAIDs, may impede the action of diuretics.

Co-administration of Diclofenac with other systemic NSAIDs and steroids may increase the incidence of adverse effects.

Contraindications

Diclofenac Potassium pills are not recommended for people who have a known sensitivity to Diclofenac. Patients who have had asthma, urticaria, or allergic responses after using aspirin or other NSAIDs should not be administered diclofenac. In such patients, severe, seldom fatal, anaphylactic-like responses to NSAIDs have been recorded. Diclofenac is not recommended for treating perioperative pain after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.

Intafenac K 50mg Tablet Side Effects

Diclofenac side effects are often minor and transitory. However, if significant negative effects develop. Diclofenac should be phased out. Epigastric discomfort and other gastrointestinal diseases occur on occasion (e.g., nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, dyspepsia, flatulence, anorexia). Gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcer (with or without bleeding or perforation), and bloody diarrhea are all uncommon.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Unless there are strong reasons to do so, diclofenac should not be given during pregnancy. It is best to take the lowest effective dose. This sort of medication is not advised during the third trimester of pregnancy. Although very tiny amounts of diclofenac may be found in breast milk, no adverse effects on the newborn are predicted.
