Arthrofen Plus (75mg+20mg)/2ml Injection

✔️ Overdose Effects:

Symptoms of acute NSAID overdoses include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain, generally reversible with supportive care. Gastrointestinal bleeding, hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory depression, and coma may occur but are rare. Anaphylactoid reactions have been reported with therapeutic NSAID ingestion and may occur after an overdose.

✔️ Dosage & Administration:

Each 2 ml ampoule contains Diclofenac Sodium 75 mg and Lidocaine Hydrochloride 20 mg.

• Adults: One ampoule once (or twice in severe cases) daily by intramuscular injection.
• Renal colic: One ampoule once daily intramuscularly, with a further ampoule administered after 30 minutes if necessary. The maximum daily dose of diclofenac is 150 mg, and for lidocaine, it is 200 mg.
• Children: In juvenile chronic arthritis, 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body weight daily in divided doses.
• Elderly patients: The lowest effective dosage recommended, adjusted for age and physical status.

✔️ Side Effects:

Side effects are usually mild and transient but may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, diarrhea, bleeding, and injection site disorders. Rare instances of abscesses and local necrosis may occur. Lidocaine-related adverse effects are generally short-lived and may include CNS reactions like drowsiness, dizziness, and confusion.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:

Use during pregnancy should be avoided unless compelling reasons exist. The lowest effective dosage should be used, especially in the last trimester. While small quantities of Diclofenac may be detected in breast milk, adverse effects on the infant are not expected.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings:

Close observation is recommended for patients with severe hepatic, cardiac, or renal insufficiency, or the elderly, as NSAIDs may worsen renal function. Monitor renal, hepatic function, and blood counts in long-term NSAID therapy. Discontinue Diclofenac if abnormal liver function tests persist or worsen.
