Linax E 5/10 Tablet

✔️ Common and important adverse effects may include:

• Pancreatitis
• Ketoacidosis
• Volume depletion and hypotension
• Urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, or urosepsis
• Hypoglycemia (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas)
• Genital fungal infections
• Hypersensitivity reactions
• Severe joint pain
• Bullous pemphigoid
• Heart failure

✔️ Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose: Empagliflozin 10 mg + Linagliptin 5 mg once daily in the morning, with or without food.
• Dose may be increased to Empagliflozin 25 mg + Linagliptin 5 mg once daily if needed.

Renal Impairment

• Assess renal function before initiating therapy.
• Do not initiate treatment if eGFR is below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².
• Discontinue therapy if eGFR persistently falls below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Diuretics: May increase the risk of dehydration and low blood pressure.
• Insulin or insulin secretagogues: Increased risk of hypoglycemia.
• Strong P-gp or CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., Rifampicin): May reduce Linagliptin effectiveness.
• Urine glucose tests: SGLT2 inhibitors may cause positive urine glucose results.
• 1,5-anhydroglucitol assay: Results may be unreliable in patients using SGLT2 inhibitors.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Ketoacidosis: May occur even with relatively normal blood glucose levels.
• Volume depletion: Can lead to dizziness, hypotension, or kidney injury.
• Fournier’s Gangrene: Rare but serious necrotizing infection reported with SGLT2 inhibitors.
• Heart failure: DPP-4 inhibitors have been associated with increased risk in some patients.

✔️ Linax-E is contraindicated in:

• Severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or dialysis patients
• Patients with hypersensitivity to Linagliptin or Empagliflozin
• History of serious allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, angioedema, urticaria, or bronchial hyperreactivity

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not recommended during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
• Limited human data are available regarding safety during pregnancy.
• Use during breastfeeding should be discussed with a physician.

✔️ Use cautiously in patients with:

• Pancreatitis
• Hypotension or dehydration
• Ketoacidosis
• Renal impairment
• Serious urinary tract infections
• Genital fungal infections
• Hypoglycemia risk
• Heart failure
• Hypersensitivity reactions

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.
