Pharmacology

Bacitracin inhibits the formation of bacterial cell walls and is effective against numerous gram-positive bacteria (e.g., staphylococci, streptococci, corynebacteria, and Clostridia) as well as certain gram-negative bacteria. (e.g. Neisseria and Haemophilus influenzae). They are frequently seen in combination as wide-spectrum antibacterial agents in topical treatments. Neomycin, a gentamicin-like aminoglycoside, binds to the 30S subunits of the bacterial ribosome, limiting protein synthesis and hence interrupting DNA synthesis. It is effective against several gram-negative aerobes as well as some staphylococci strains.

Interaction

Acarbose's effects could be improved. The impact of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants may be increased. The parasympathomimetic effects of pyridostigmine and neostigmine may be countered. in patients taking bisphosphonates may raise the risk of hypocalcemia. When given with anticoagulants, may change INR. The oral typhoid vaccine might become inactive.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Antibiotic powders like Bacitracin and Neomycin shouldn't be applied to open wounds that are very large or to skin that has been severely injured because hard crusts could form.
• This skin ointment shouldn't be used to treat otitis external when the eardrum is perforated due to the risk of ototoxicity because it contains Neomycin.

• Sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds should not be treated with Nebanol Powder 10gm.
• After applying Nebanol Powder. do not wash the treated areas for at least 3 hours. Before taking Nebanol Powder 10 gm, inform your doctor if you want to become pregnant, are pregnant, or are a breastfeeding mother.
• Nebanol Powder10 gm is only indicated for children under the supervision of a doctor.
