Common side effects include flushing, heat sensation, faintness, tingling, itching, headache, dizziness, and more. It may also affect glucose tolerance, liver function, and platelet counts.

• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
• Doing weight-bearing exercises such as brisk walking, jogging, tennis or even dance can be very useful in promoting overall physical health. However, do not over-exert yourself if you feel too tired.
• Muscle training activities such as yoga and Pilates can also be very helpful in protecting the heart.

✔️ Indication of Ridel ER Tablet

Ridel ER Tablet is a vitamin supplement. It contains Nicotinic acid. It is used to address niacin deficiency which happens as a result of disease, drugs, or alcoholism. 

✔️ Pharmacology

Nicotinic acid, a derivative of vitamin B3, reduces total serum cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, and triglycerides, while increasing HDL cholesterol. The exact mechanisms are still unclear.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Ridel ER Tablet

Adult Dose: Initial dose for hyperlipidaemias is 250 mg once daily in the evening, with subsequent adjustments every 4-7 days until desired cholesterol levels are achieved. Max: 6 g daily.

Child Dose: For treatment of pellagra: 100-300 mg daily in divided doses.

It should be taken with food, typically after a low-fat snack.

✔️ Interaction

Ridel ER may interact with other medications, such as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, colestyramine, aspirin, and ganglionic blocking agents, potentially leading to adverse effects like myopathy, hypotension, and reduced bioavailability.

✔️ Contraindications

It's contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Niacin, significant or unexplained hepatic dysfunction, active peptic ulcer disease, or arterial bleeding.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Niacin cannot be used in pregnancy and lactation because of a lack of information.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

Patients with unstable angina, acute MI, CHD, DM, gout, or history of peptic ulceration should take caution. Regular monitoring of liver function tests and blood glucose is advised.
