Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride blocks a natural substance (histamine) during an allergic reaction. Besides this, the drying effects of Diphenhydramine on allergic symptoms (like watery eyes and runny nose) are caused by blocking another natural substance (acetylcholine). Together it helps relieve allergy symptoms like sneezing, running nose, watery eyes, itching, swelling, congestion, or stiffness.

Zinc acetate:

Togent 10 belongs to the therapeutic class of topical antihistamines and local antipruritics.

✔️ Pharmacology

Diphenhydramine acts as an antihistamine, reducing itching and pain by inhibiting histamine release. Zinc is included to protect the skin.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Togent Cream

• Adult Dose: For adults, apply to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily.
• Child Dose: For children above 2 years old, apply to the affected area 3 to 4 times daily.

Administration: Before application, ensure the skin is clean, cool, and dry. Avoid hot showers or baths before applying. Apply the cream lightly until it disappears, covering all affected skin surfaces, including between fingers and toes, under nails, and on the soles of the feet.

Togent may interact with various medications and substances. It can mask ototoxicity produced by aminoglycosides and affect the absorption of levodopa. It can also antagonize the effects of cholinergic agents and interact with CNS depressants, MAOIs, atropine, TCAs, and other substances like valerian, St. John's wort, Kava Kava, and gotu kola.

Avoid using Togent in individuals with known allergies to its components, other pyrethroids, or pyrethrins.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

While specific studies on pregnant women are lacking, consult medical advice before using during pregnancy. Topical use is not expected to have teratogenic effects. Caution is advised in nursing mothers, although levels of breast milk after topical treatment are expected to be very low.
