Anemia is a significant cause of malnutrition among children under five years old. In Bangladesh, over 50% of children in this age group suffer from iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Monimix Plus, a tasteless and odorless micronutrient powder, is effective in treating and preventing anemia.

✔️ Suitability:

Monimix Plus is ideal for children aged 6-23 months. Following WHO recommendations, it effectively addresses iron and micronutrient deficiency anemia in children under five years old.

✔️ Dosage and Administration:

• Preparation: Mix Monimix Plus with semi-solid or soft food (e.g., rice, hotchpotch, suji).
• Feeding Schedule:
  • Feed one sachet daily with a small quantity of the child’s main meal. Ensure the child consumes it within half an hour.
  • Continue daily for 2 months, followed by a 4-month interval, then another 2 months.
  • Follow this cycle up to the age of 59 months.
• Frequency: Do not exceed one sachet per day.
• Treatment Plan:
  • 60 sachets should be fed over 120 days for anemia treatment.
  • Administer 60 sachets every six months until the child reaches five years old.
  • If a dose is missed for 1-2 days, resume the regular schedule the next day.

✔️ Contraindications:

• Not suitable for children with thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, or HIV/AIDS.

✔️ Side Effects:

• Generally, no side effects.
• Due to the iron content, the child's stool may become hard, soft, or blackish, which should normalize in a few days.
