Indications
Iron, folic acid, and zinc deficiencies are treated and prevented with it, especially during pregnancy and lactation.
Pharmacology
Carbonyl Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate are combined in this timed-release capsule. It contains Carbonyl Iron with a minimum iron content of 98 percent. Carbinyl Iron is a safer and more effective iron supplement because of its high bioavailability and low toxicity.
Dosage & Administration
Interaction
Tetracycline antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, levodopa, levothyroxine, methyldopa, and penecillamine are all affected by carbonyl iron. Because folic acid interacts with antiepileptic drugs, phenobarbital, phenytoin, and primidone plasma concentrations may be reduced.
Contraindications
It is not recommended for patients who have a known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients or who have an iron deficiency.
Side Effects
Nausea, anorexia, vomiting, discomfort, constipation, and diarrhoea are all possible gastrointestinal irritations. Dark stools are a common complaint among patients. Carbonyl Iron pellets are included in the capsules to help prevent gastrointestinal irritation. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Any drug should be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy if at all possible. As a result, administering Iron during the first trimester necessitates conclusive evidence of Iron deficiency. During the remainder of pregnancy, prophylaxis of Iron deficiency is justified when an inadequate diet necessitates supplemental Zinc and Folic acid.
Precautions & Warnings
Patients with Iron overload conditions such as haemochromatosis, haemolytic anemia, or red blood cell aplasia should be treated with extra caution. Failure to respond to treatment necessitates additional testing to rule out other causes of anemia. Zinc accumulation is a possibility in patients with renal failure.
Storage Conditions
Keep the temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of children's reach.
