Pharmacology

A preparation of pancreatin, an enzyme extract from the mammalian pancreas that includes enzymes with amylase, protease, and lipase activities, is known as pancreatin. It is made to degrade in the duodenum's alkaline environment, releasing the pancreatin's active enzymatic components as it does so (amylase, protease, and lipase). Amylases hydrolyze dietary starch to create maltose, maltose, and dextrin. Proteases create amino acids and oligopeptides by rupturing the peptide bonds that hold proteins and polypeptides together. Dietary triglycerides are hydrolyzed by lipase to produce one monoglyceride molecule and two fatty acid molecules. no less than 25 times its weight in soluble carbohydrates from starch in 5 minutes, and no less than 25 times its weight in protease from casein.

What if you forget to take Zymet Pro?

Interactions of Zymet Pro

Alkaline media will destroy the enteric coating. Therefore, to prevent stomach contents from overflowing, pancreatin should not be used simultaneously with antacids.

Contraindications

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnant women should receive pancreatin only when clearly needed. It is not known whether this drug will be excreted in human milk. Since many drugs are excreted in breast milk, care must be taken when administering pancreatin to a breastfeeding mother.
