How to use Tory 90 Tablet

Take Tory 90 as directed by your doctor, do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow it whole. It can be taken with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at a fixed time.

Quick Suggestions:

• Tory 90 reduces inflammation and discomfort.
• Compared to other NSAIDs like Ibuprofen or Naproxen, it could lessen gastrointestinal issues.
• It could make you feel worn out and woozy. Until you know how it affects you, avoid driving or engaging in any activity that requires attention.
• When using this medication, avoid drinking alcohol since it may make you feel too sleepy.
• While taking this medication, keep a close eye on your blood pressure, especially in the first two weeks of treatment.
• If you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, or renal illness, let your doctor know.
• Your doctor could recommend routine blood tests to check on how your liver is functioning while you are receiving long-term therapy.
• If you are expecting or considering pregnancy, do not take Tory 90.

Indications

Pharmacology

Etoricoxib is a potent and orally active inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which is primarily responsible for the synthesis of prostanoid mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever. This selective inhibition of COX-2 within the clinical dose range reduces the clinical signs and symptoms associated with these conditions, while decreasing the potential for gastrointestinal (GI) toxicity and effects on platelet aggregation. Unlike nonselective NSAIDs, which inhibit both COX-1 and COX-2, etoricoxib does not inhibit gastric prostaglandin synthesis or interfere with the normal physiologic functions of COX-1, such as gastric cytoprotection and platelet aggregation. Etoricoxib produces dose-dependent inhibition of COX-2 without inhibiting COX-1 at doses up to 150 mg daily.

Dosage & Administration of

Adult and adolescent over 16 years:

• Osteoarthritis: Etoricoxib's recommended dose is 30mg once daily, but a higher dose of 60mg once daily may be considered for patients who experience inadequate symptom relief.
• Rheumatoid arthritis: The recommended dose for Tory 9090 once daily.
• Ankylosing spondylitis: The recommended dose is 90 mg once daily.
• Acute gouty arthritis: Tory 9090's recommended dose for acute gouty arthritis is 120mg once daily, and it is typically administered for 8 days as per clinical trials.
• Postoperative dental surgery pain: The recommended dose of Etoricoxib for post-surgical pain is 90mg once daily for a maximum of 3 days, and additional analgesia may be necessary. The lowest effective dose and shortest duration should be used due to increased cardiovascular risks associated with higher doses and longer exposure.

Interaction

• Oral anticoagulants: Tory 90 use in patients stabilized on warfarin treatment may increase prothrombin time.
• Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and Angiotensin II Antagonists: NSAIDs may reduce the effectiveness of diuretics and other antihypertensive drugs.
• Acetylsalicylic Acid: Tory 90  can be used concomitantly with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid for cardiovascular prophylaxis.
• Ciclosporin and Tacrolimus: Although not studied with Etoricoxib specifically, coadministration of ciclosporin or tacrolimus with any NSAID may increase the nephrotoxic effect of these medications.
• Lithium: NSAIDs may reduce the renal excretion of lithium and increase lithium plasma levels.
• Food: Tory 90 can be taken without regard to meals.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
• Active peptic ulceration or active gastro-intestinal (Gl) bleeding.
• Patients who have experienced bronchospasm, acute rhinitis, nasal polyps, angioneurotic oedema, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking acetylsalicylic acid or NSAIDs including COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) inhibitors.
• Pregnancy and lactation.
• Severe hepatic dysfunction (serum albumin <25 g/l or Child-Pugh score 10).
• Estimated renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min.
• Children and adolescents under 16 years of age.
• Inflammatory bowel disease.
• Congestive heart failure (NYHA ll-IV).
• Patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is persistently elevated above 140/90 mmHg and has not been adequately controlled.
• Established ischaemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, and/or cerebrovascular disease.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• The use of Tory 90 Tablet is not recommended in women attempting to conceive, as with any drug substance known to inhibit COX-2.
• The safety of Etoricoxib during pregnancy has not been established, and it should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
• It is not known whether Etoricoxib is excreted in human milk, and women who use Etoricoxib must not breastfeed.
• Tory 90 Tablet has been found to be excreted in the milk of lactating rats, and the potential risk for infants is unknown.

Precautions & Warnings

Tory 90 Tablet is not advisable for women trying to conceive to use Etoricoxib, as it falls under the category of drug substances that inhibit COX-2. The safety of Etoricoxib during pregnancy is not yet established, and it should only be used if absolutely necessary. The excretion of Etoricoxib in human milk is uncertain, and breastfeeding is not recommended while using Etoricoxib. Studies have revealed that Etoricoxib is excreted in the milk of lactating rats, but the potential risks for infants are unknown.

What are the Overdose Effects of Tory90

Ingestion of single or multiple doses of Etoricoxib up to 500 mg and 150 mg/day for 21 days, respectively, did not cause significant toxicity. However, in case of an overdose, standard supportive measures such as removal of unabsorbed material from the gastrointestinal tract, clinical monitoring, and supportive therapy should be employed, if necessary.
