Pharmacology

Etoricoxib, exhibits potent activity as an orally active inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Cyclooxygenase enzymes exist in two isoforms: cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). COX-1 is involved in normal physiological processes mediated by prostaglandins, such as gastric cytoprotection and platelet aggregation.

Dosage & Administration of Tory 120mg Tablet

Adult Dose:

  • Osteoarthritis: The recommended dose is 30 mg once daily, which can be increased to 60 mg once daily if necessary.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis; Rheumatoid arthritis: The recommended dose is 90 mg once daily.
  • Acute gout: The recommended dose is 120 mg once daily, with a maximum duration of 8 days.
  • Hepatic impairment:
    • Mild (Child-Pugh score of 5-6): The recommended dose is 60 mg once daily.
    • Moderate (Child-Pugh score 7-9): The maximum recommended dose is 60 mg every other day or 30 mg once daily.
    • Severe (Child-Pugh score >10): It is advised to avoid the use of this medication.

Child Dose:

This medication is contraindicated in children under 16 years of age.
