Indication of Tenopain 20mg Tablet

• Tenoxicam is used to treat the symptoms of various musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Tendinitis, bursitis, periarthritis (shoulder-hand syndrome) or hips

Pharmacology

• Tenoxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties.
• It inhibits platelet aggregation and suppresses prostaglandin biosynthesis.
• In vitro, tests suggest that tenoxicam may act as a scavenger for active oxygen at the site of inflammation.
• It is also a potent inhibitor of human metalloproteinases, which induce cartilage breakdown.

Dosage & Administration:

• Standard dosage: 20 mg daily for all indications except acute gout.
• Acute gout: 40 mg once daily for two days, followed by 20 mg once daily for five days.
• Chronic disorders: Avoid daily doses higher than 20 mg to minimize unwanted reactions.
• Reduction to a daily oral dose of 10 mg may be tried for maintenance in long-term treatment.
