How does Neotison Nasal Spray work?

Fluticasone Furoate is a steroid that works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies.

Side Effects of Neotison Nasal Spray

• Nasal spray may cause dryness and increased nosebleeds.
• Common adverse events in inhalation capsule use: nasopharyngitis, bronchitis, upper respiratory tract infections, headaches.

• Shake the nasal spray bottle before using the medicine.
• Clean your nose thoroughly before using the medicine.
• Insert the bottle tip into one nostril.
• Close the other nostril.
• Direct the spray towards the sides of the nostril, away from the cartilage dividing the two sides of the nose.
• Breathe out gently through your mouth.
• Repeat the same process for the other nostril.
• Avoid deep breathing to prevent the medication from going back to the throat, ensuring it remains effective.
• Do not share the nasal spray bottle with anyone else to avoid spreading germs.
• Fluticasone Furoate should be avoided in patients with recent nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma.

Dosage of Neotison Nasal Spray

Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray:

• Adults and children over 12 years: 2 sprays into each nostril, twice daily (max 4 sprays).
• Children 2-11 years: 1 spray into each nostril, once daily.

Direction for use:

1. Shake the bottle and remove the dust cap.
2. Hold the spray with the thumb underneath and the forefinger/middle finger on either side of the nozzle.
3. Administer 2 sprays into each nostril for adults; once daily, 1 spray for children 2-11 years.
4. Clean the nasal spray at least once a week.

Interaction

• Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inhibitors may increase exposure to fluticasone furoate.
• Ritonavir should not be taken concurrently; caution with other potent CYP3A4 inhibitors.

Contraindications

Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray is not recommended for individuals allergic to any of its components.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not recommended during pregnancy; use only if benefits outweigh risks.
• Excretion in human breast milk is unknown; caution is advised during breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

• Rare cases of acute hypersensitivity responses or contact dermatitis may occur.
• Potential for wheezing, nasal septum perforation, cataracts, glaucoma, and elevated intraocular pressure.
• Systemic effects increase with higher doses; avoid exceeding the prescribed dose.
