Indication

Acute bronchopulmonary diseases are sudden and short-term respiratory conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema with bronchitis, chronic asthmatic bronchitis, and bronchiectasis.

Acute bronchopulmonary diseases also encompass asthma with bronchial mucus plugging, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, tracheobronchitis, bronchiolitis, as well as pulmonary complications related to cystic fibrosis and surgery.

Pharmacology

Acetylcysteine is a mucolytic drug that decreases the viscosity of secretions by causing disulfide links in mucoproteins to rupture. It also has an antisecretory action. To take the medication, dissolve the effervescent tablet in a glass with a small amount of water, and if needed, mix it with a spoon. This will create a palatable solution that can be consumed directly from the glass.

Interaction

• Mucomist DT Tablet should not be used in children below 14 years of age.
