Pharmacology

Undenatured Type II Collagen is derived from chicken sternum cartilage using a patented, low-temperature, non-enzymatic process that preserves its natural triple helix molecular configuration and biological activity. It has a unique mechanism of action through the process of oral tolerization.

Undenatured collagen II molecules contain active binding sites called epitopes that trigger oral tolerization. This process involves the interaction of active epitopes with Peyer's patches in the small intestine, releasing collagen-specific regulatory T-cells. These regulatory T-cells migrate to joint areas, preventing the release of T-cells, which, in turn, stops the secretion of collagenase enzymes responsible for breaking down joint cartilage. It also reduces the production of inflammatory cytokines, leading to decreased inflammation, halting joint cartilage erosion, and promoting cartilage rebuilding.
