How does Eyebet 0.1% Sterile Eye/Ear/Nasal Drops work?

Betamethasone is a steroid that works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies.

Side Effects of Eyebet 0.1% Sterile Eye/Ear/Nasal Drops

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur, causing irritation, burning, tingling, itching, and dermatitis. Topical use of corticosteroids can lead to corneal ulcers, increased intraocular pressure, optic nerve damage, and decreased vision. Long-term use can result in posterior subcapsular cataracts and thinning of the cornea or sclera, leading to perforation.

• Betamethasone can make it harder for you to fight off infections. Notify your doctor if you have any signs of infection such as a fever or sore throat.
• Side effects such as mood changes or stomach problems can happen when you start taking Betamethasone. Inform your doctor if this bothers you.
• Do not stop taking Betamethasone suddenly without talking to your doctor first as it may worsen your symptoms.

Indications:

Eyebet Eye Drop is used for the short-term treatment of sensitive steroids in ocular inflammation after ruling out bacterial, viral, or fungal infections. It is also used for uninfected inflammation of the ear or nose.

Pharmacology

Corticosteroids in Eyebet bind to glucocorticoid receptors, inhibiting pro-inflammatory signals and promoting anti-inflammatory signals. Betamethasone phosphate, one of its components, has a short duration of action as it is quickly hydrolyzed to betamethasone. Corticosteroids have a broad therapeutic window, but patients taking them should be informed about the risk of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression and increased susceptibility to infection.

Dosage & Administration of Eyebet 0.1% Sterile Eye/Ear/Nasal Drops

• Eye: Apply 1 or 2 drops to each affected eye every 1 or 2 hours until control is achieved, then reduce the frequency.
• Ear: Apply 2 or 3 drops to each affected ear every 2 or 3 hours until control is achieved, then reduce the frequency.
• Nose: Instill 2 or 3 drops into each nostril 2 or 3 times daily.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, systemic fungal or acute infections.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies for pregnant women. Pregnant women should not use it in large quantities. No information is available regarding secretion in breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings

Eyebet should not be used for undiagnosed red eyes. Ophthalmic treatment with corticosteroid preparations should not be repeated or prolonged without regular examination to rule out increased intraocular pressure, cataract formation, or accidental infection. It should be used cautiously in patients with uncontrolled diabetes, during pregnancy and lactation, in the elderly, and in infants and children.

Store below 25°C, protect from light and keep out of reach of children. Do not use more than 4 weeks after opening.
