How does Clopid-As Tablet work?

Clopid-As Tablet is a combination of two antiplatelet medicines: Aspirin and Clopidogrel which prevent heart attack. They work by preventing the platelets from sticking together and decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots.

Clopid-AS, a blood thinner or a combination of two antiplatelet medications, is prescribed to reduce the risk of dangerous blood clots in blood vessels. The medication should be taken consistently at regular intervals, preferably with food, as directed by the doctor.

Pharmacology

Clopidogrel, the active ingredient, inhibits platelet activation and aggregation by binding irreversibly to platelet P2Y12 ADP receptors. A single oral dose can dosage-dependently inhibit platelet aggregation two hours later. Repeated doses of 75 mg per day lead to a stable antiplatelet effect between Days 3 and 7.

Dosage & Administration of Clopid-As Tablet

• For patients needing an antiplatelet effect within hours, start with a single 300 mg (4 tablets) oral loading dose, followed by 75 mg once daily.
• For recent MI, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease: 75 mg once daily orally without a loading dose.
• It can be taken orally with or without food.

Interaction

• NSAIDs, warfarin, SSRIs, SNRIs: Increases the risk of bleeding.
• Inhibitors of CYP2C19 (omeprazole or esomeprazole): Avoid concurrent use.
• Clopidogrel (CYP2C8 substrates): Avoid using concurrently with Repaglinide.

Contraindications

Clopid is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to any component, the medication substance, or active pathological bleeding, such as cerebral hemorrhage or peptic ulcer.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No well-controlled trials in pregnant women; use only if necessary.
