How does Arlin 600mg Tablet work?

Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of harmful bacteria in the body. Arlin 600mg Tablet contains Linezolid, which is effective against certain strains of bacteria. It helps to treat these infections.

Side Effects of Arlin 600mg Tablet

Common side effects include diarrhea, headache, nausea, oral and vaginal moniliasis, and others. Most side effects reported are mild to moderate in intensity.

Quick Suggestions:

• Finish the full course of antibiotic treatment even if you start feeling better. Stopping antibiotics prematurely may allow the infection to return and become more difficult to treat.
• Diarrhea can be a side effect of antibiotics. It should typically subside after completing the course. However, inform your doctor if it persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
• Be cautious with foods like cheese, processed meats, alcohol, and soy sauce, as they may cause a sudden rise in blood pressure when taken with certain medications.

Indication

Indications:

1. Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecium infections including cases with concurrent bacteremia.
2. Nosocomial pneumonia caused by Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible and -resistant strains) or Streptococcus pneumoniae (including multi-drug resistant strains). Combination therapy may be clinically indicated if the documented or presumptive pathogens include Gram-negative organisms.
3. Complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections (without concomitant osteomyelitis) caused by Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible and resistant strains), Streptococcus pyogenes, or Streptococcus agalactiae.
4. Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible only) or Streptococcus pyogenes.
5. Community-acquired pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae (including multi-drug resistant strains) including cases with concurrent bacteremia, or Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible strains only).

Pharmacology

Linezolid is an antibiotic that selectively inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA, preventing the formation of a functional 70S initiation complex in the bacterial ribosome. It has activity against Gram-positive aerobic bacteria, some Gram-positive anaerobic bacteria, and certain Gram-negative bacteria.

4. Medicines used to treat migraines (e.g., sumatriptan, zolmitriptan).
5. Medicines are used to treat sudden, severe allergic reactions (e.g., adrenaline (epinephrine)).
6. Medicines that increase blood pressure (e.g., noradrenaline (norepinephrine), dopamine, and dobutamine).
7. Pethidine (used to treat moderate to severe pain).
8. Buspirone (used to treat anxiety disorders).
9. Warfarin (used to stop blood clotting).
10. Rifampicin (used to treat bacterial infections).

Drug-Food Interactions:

Avoid consuming large amounts of certain foods while taking Arlin 600mg Tablet, as they may interact with the medication:

• Avoid eating large amounts of mature cheese, yeast extracts, or soya bean extracts (e.g., soy sauce) while taking Arlin 600mg Tablet. These foods contain tyramine, which can naturally increase blood pressure and may react with the medication.

Contraindications

Linezolid should not be used in patients who have known hypersensitivity to Linezolid or any of the other product components. It should not be used in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), within two weeks of taking MAOIs, or in patients with certain medical conditions such as uncontrolled hypertension, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis, and others.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Linezolid is classified as Pregnancy Category C, and its use during pregnancy should be considered only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
