Indication

Analac is used for the short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain, dental pain, orthopedic pain, renal colic, nephrolithiasis, cancer pain, and musculoskeletal pain.

Pharmacology

Ketorolac tromethamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, primarily exerting its effects at the peripheral level. It does not have sedative or anxiolytic properties and lacks opioid activity.

Dosage & Administration of Analac 10mg Tablet

• Adults (<65 years): 10 mg every 4 to 6 hours, as needed. Do not exceed 40 mg per day.
• Elderly (65 years and older): 10 mg every 6 to 8 hours. Do not exceed 30 to 40 mg per day.

Interaction

Ketorolac may interact with various drugs, including methotrexate, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, warfarin, lithium, aminoglycosides, antiepileptic drugs, psychoactive drugs, and other NSAIDs.

Contraindications

Ketorolac is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the drug, asthma, nasal polyposis, active peptic ulceration, pre-renal conditions, disorders of coagulation or platelet function, cirrhosis of the liver, cerebrovascular bleeding, and concomitant use with other NSAIDs.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Ketorolac is contraindicated during pregnancy, labor, or delivery. It should also be avoided by breastfeeding mothers.

Precautions & Warnings

Caution should be exercised in elderly patients, those with allergic disorders, and individuals with renal, cardiac, or hepatic impairments.
