How does Enegra 100mg Tablet work?

This medication relaxes the smooth muscles by inhibiting Phosphodiesterase type-5. This results in the increase of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which relaxes the smooth muscles and increases the flow of blood.

Common side effects include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, effects on vision, light sensitivity, blurred vision, stuffy nose, and dizziness. Pharmacology

Sildenafil is a specific inhibitor of cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP)-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) used to treat erectile dysfunction. It enhances the effect of nitric oxide (NO) by inhibiting PDE5, which is responsible for cGMP depletion in the corpus cavernosum, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow to the corpus cavernosum.

Dosage & Administration of Enegra 100mg Tablet

The usual starting dose of Sildenafil is 50 mg once daily, to be taken 30-40 minutes before intercourse. Depending on effectiveness and tolerance, the dose may be increased to a maximum recommended dose of 100 mg or decreased to 25 mg. The maximum dosing frequency is once per day.

Interaction

Concurrent use of Sildenafil with nitrates for angina, certain medications such as Cimetidine, Erythromycin, Rifampicin, Ritonavir, and Saquinavir for HIV treatment, and ketoconazole and itraconazole for parasitic diseases should be avoided. Caution is advised in patients over 65, those with hepatic or severe renal impairment, and those taking certain medications that may interact with Sildenafil.
